Credit, Crude Again Haunt Stocks |

The Dow industrials plunged by 220.40 points, or 1.8%, to 11842.69, the first close below 12000 for blue chips since March 17. Financial stocks continued to dive. General Motors dropped 6.8% on the threat of a credit-rating downgrade.
